Friends of Lyme Valley Parkway

The Friends of Lyme Valley Parkway are hosting a Food and Craft Event in the award winning Lyme Valley Parkway. As well as stalls selling crafts, gifts and food the event features Newcastle Borough Council’s ‘Food and Craft Show’. In addition the Friends Group are organising ‘Bark in the Park’, a sponsored dog walk and with other pet activities to raise funds for a local animal charity. Other attractions at the event include donkey rides, children’s activities and refreshments – and not forgetting of course the very popular Duck Race along the Lyme Brook – which this year will be taking a longer more exciting course!

The Newcastle Borough Council ‘Food and Craft Show’ features classes for both adults and children, with entries including the ‘Largest Pumpkin’, ‘Homemade Jewellery’ and even the ‘Best Dressed Mr Potato Head’! Once all the classes have been judged then the public will be invited to view the exhibits – and maybe even purchase any that are donated to the auction being held at 3.30pm.

‘Bark in the Park’ is open to all dog walkers and the route is a circuit of the Lyme Valley ParkwayDog owners enter on the day and join in the walk for a £2 donation to charity. All dogs entered will get a certificate recording their own personal bark in the park! We will also be presenting two awards on the day – the ‘Best Friend’ award will be for any dog who has been an extra special friend or been through difficult circumstances. The ‘Dog’s Best Friend Award’ will go to the person who has been just that, and has made a difference to the life, or lives, of dogs. Nominations for both awards can be submitted to the Friends Group in advance - or entered on the day.
