Lyme Valley Food and Craft Fair

On Sunday 11th September, from 11.30am until 4.00pm, The Friends of Lyme Valley Parkway are hosting a Food and Crafts event in the award winning Lyme Valley Parkway. As well as over 15 stalls selling crafts, gifts and food the event features Newcastle Borough Council’s ‘Vegetable, Produce and Handicraft Show’. In addition the Friends Group are proud to be playing host to ‘Bark in the Park’, a sponsored dog walk raising funds for Arch North Staffs. Other attractions at the event include donkey rides, childrens’ activities, refreshments and of course the very popular duck race along the Lyme Brook. If that was not enough there is also a ‘Compost Give-Away’, sponsored by TEG and green-fingered gardeners are being invited to bring along their own bag to fill and take away!

The Newcastle Borough Council ‘Vegetable, Produce and Handicraft Show’ features classes for both adults and children, with entries including the ‘Largest Pumpkin’, ‘Homemade Jewellery’ and even the ‘Best Dressed Mr Potato Head’! Classes are just 50p to enter and schedules are available from the Guildhall, the Civic Offices or by emailing [email protected] Garners Garden Centre have sponsored the show and the Mayor of Newcastle will be awarding the prizes during the afternoon. Once all the classes have been judged then the public will be invited to view the exhibits – and maybe even purchase them if they have been donated to the auction!

‘Bark in the Park 2’ is open to all dog walkers and the route is a circuit of the Lyme Valley Parkway. The organisers are the One Stop Pet Shop in Wolstanton and details and sponsor forms are available from the Arch Fundraising Team on 01782 204479 or emailing [email protected] Owners can enter their dogs on the day and join in the walk for a £5 donation to the charity. The last registration will be at 3.00pm. All dogs entered will get a goody bag, certificate and photo recording their own personal bark in the park!

This fun packed day is being held on the events arena, which is located at the north end of the Lyme Valley Parkway, behind the Homebase store and accessed from Brook Lane. As parking is very limited visitors are asked to use the town centre car parks, which are free on Sundays.

Cllr Elizabeth Shenton, Chair of the Lyme Valley Friends Group said: “Events in the Lyme Valley Parkway are always popular and we try to provide something for everyone. As usual there will be a lot to see, entry to the event is free and of course everyone is welcome.”
